How the tools work
What happens to your numbers
Pricing figures are commercially sensitive. Here is exactly how they are handled.
Nothing you type leaves your browser
Every calculation runs on your device in JavaScript. There is no form submission, no account, no email gate and no storage of your figures on a server.
The arithmetic is shown, not hidden
Each tool lists its formula and its assumptions on the page. If you disagree with an assumption, change the input — you should never have to trust a black box with your pricing.
Results are planning aids
Outputs depend entirely on the figures you enter. They are not quotes, tax calculations or advice, and they do not replace your accountant.
Print or download any result
Every tool can print a clean summary or download a plain text version you can paste into a quote, an email or your records.
Straight answers
Common questions about the tools
- Do I need to sign up to use the calculators?
- No. There is no account, no email gate and no paywall on any tool on this site. Open the page, type your figures, read the answer.
- Which tool should I use first?
- The true hourly rate calculator. Almost every pricing problem in a trade business comes from not knowing the hourly cost of running it, and every other calculator here is more accurate once you have that number.
- Do the calculators handle VAT?
- Where VAT is relevant the tool asks whether you are registered and shows figures excluding and including VAT at the standard rate. Always check the current rate and any scheme you are on with your accountant.
- Can I use the results in a quote to a customer?
- Yes, as your own working. Download or print the summary, sanity-check it against the job in front of you, then transfer the figures into your quote template. The numbers are yours, not ours.
